STB is the Ukrainian nationwide television channel, first aired on June 2, 1997.
Tasks
Automated tape libraries are one of the key solutions used by IT experts by the STB TV channel. To cope with the ever-growing information flow and make space for secure data storage, STB IT department had to upgrade its existing data storage system based on IBM System Storage TS3500 tape library. By the way, the long history of STB and SI BIS partnership began from this very library.
Criteria
Having got the preliminary approval for all project stages—from hardware selection to functionality expansion specifics—SI BIS experts:
• Created a unified SAN factory from the existing separate FC switches
• Upgraded the IBM System Storage TS3500 automated tape library by connecting an additional TS3500 HD Frames cabinet of increased capacity
• Installed additional next-generation LTO6 optical drives to increase data storage density
• Activated additional ports of the IBM System Storage SAN80B-4 SAN core switch
• Installed a new IBM System Networking SAN24B-5 access switch to connect the video editing stations.
