Tasks

Development of a modern and reliable IT platform for automation of processes and ensuring of uninterrupted internal operation of PJSC AES Kyivoblenergo and PJSC AES Rivneenergo, outfitting of the companies’ offices with computer hardware.

At the beginning of the project, we needed to provide automation, improve performance, and reduce disruptions in the district power grids.

Criteria

Through a tender, PJSC AES Kyivoblenergo chose powerful and reliable IBM eServer xSeries 225 servers based on the exclusive IBM Xtended Design Architecture technology and Intel processors.

As the next step in process automation, SI BIS experts suggested introducing a next-generation IBM eServer xSeries 366 server systems with Intel Xeon processors and IBM Enterprise X-Architecture technology, which have outstanding performance expansion and scalability capabilities. The IBM eServer xSeries 366 server systems were used as a platform for PJSC AES Kyivoblenergo’s billing system.

After the automation was completed, the offices of PJSC AES Kyivoblenergo and PJSC AES Rivneenergo were outfitted with new hardware. To the AES Kyivoblenergo office, IBM ThinkCentre M (now Lenovo ThinkCentre) desktop workstations, Samsung monitors, and IBM ThinkPad T laptops (now Lenovo ThinkPad) were brought. These IBM (now Lenovo) desktop and laptops workstations were chosen because they were powerful, reliable, and secure. These features, as well as advanced multimedia capabilities and modern business design, became powerful arguments in choosing such systems for a dynamically growing company.

Results

Over a relatively short period, PJSC AES Kyivoblenergo and PJSC AES Rovnoenergo significantly improved quality and reliability of consumer service and reduced the number of failures and emergency outages in power delivery.

The introduction of innovative technologies and utilization of modern appliances has become one of the main factors of PJSC AES Kyivoblenergo’s and PJSC AES Rivneenergo’s improved profitability and efficiency.
